About the role
As a Software Engineer – Full Stack (AI/Cloud), you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, AI-powered, enterprise-grade applications across modern cloud platforms. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with product, DevOps, and cross-functional stakeholders to build secure, high-performing digital platforms.

In this role, you will:
Architect, build, and scale end-to-end applications, ensuring performance, resilience, and scalability
Develop responsive, accessible, and high-performing frontend applications using modern frameworks
Design and implement robust backend systems, including RESTful and GraphQL APIs and microservices architectures
Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines with strong testing, containerization, and deployment strategies (e.g., blue/green, canary)
Integrate enterprise AI capabilities using platforms such as AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex AI, including RAG pipelines and vector databases
Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate development while focusing on architecture, quality, and system design

What you need to have to be considered
Strong experience in full stack development using TypeScript, React, and Next.js for frontend development
Backend expertise in Node.js (Express/NestJS) and/or Python (FastAPI/Django)
Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/Aurora) and vector databases (pgvector, OpenSearch, Pinecone)
Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), including services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, S3, or GKE and Cloud Functions
Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or equivalent tools
Practical experience with AI/ML integration, including Amazon Bedrock, Vertex AI, and frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex
Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including Docker, CI/CD tools, and observability platforms (Datadog, CloudWatch, etc.)
Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, PyTest, Playwright, Cypress)
These will help you stand out
Experience building RAG-based AI architectures and integrating large language models into enterprise applications
Advanced proficiency with AI coding assistants (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot, GitLab Duo)
Experience designing high-throughput, enterprise-scale systems
Familiarity with modern deployment strategies such as blue/green and canary releases
Strong understanding of system design, scalability patterns, and performance optimization
Note: Certain roles may require candidates to attend in-person interviews at Cognizant offices or client locations, depending on project requirements.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or equivalent
Total compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD $60,300 to $95,500 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
