About the role
As a Lead SDET/ QA Automation Engineer(Playwright & AI), you will make an impact by designing and building advanced automation solutions and leveraging AI-driven testing approaches to improve quality and speed of delivery. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and DevOps to deliver high-quality, scalable applications.
In this role, you will:
Design and develop scalable automation frameworks using Playwright for web applications
Build and maintain automation scripts and end-to-end test suites for functional and integration testing
Develop and implement GenAI-driven testing solutions, including AI agents for quality engineering use cases
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality across releases and agile sprints
Participate in test design, execution, defect management, and reporting
Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing
Drive test coverage, quality metrics, and reporting, ensuring visibility to stakeholders

What you need to have to be considered
8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering / QA automation
Strong experience with Playwright (minimum 2+ years) for automation development
Proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript for test automation
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines (GitHub, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, etc.)
Experience working with testing tools such as Azure DevOps or JIRA
Strong experience in API testing (REST, GraphQL)
Solid understanding of SQL and data validation techniques
Experience working in Agile environments and cross-functional teams
These will help you stand out
Experience with GenAI / AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot)
Hands-on experience in building or testing AI agents / GenAI workflows
Experience driving automation strategy and framework design
Ability to lead testing efforts across multiple teams or complex programs
Strong communication skills and experience with stakeholder reporting

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $71,100 to $112,500, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
