We are seeking an experienced Associate Director – Mobile / Platform Engineering to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable cross-platform solutions leveraging Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and Native iOS (Swift). This role requires a strong hands-on technical leader who can drive architecture, mentor teams, and ensure high-quality software delivery aligned with business goals.
What you will do
· Over 20+ years of experience in Design and develop shared business logic using Kotlin Multiplatform, ensuring maximum code reuse and platform consistency.
· Lead and contribute to native iOS development using Swift, ensuring performance, stability, and adherence to Apple best practices.
· Architect and implement RESTful API integrations, including request/response modeling, authentication, error handling, and data synchronization.
· Collaborate with backend teams to define API contracts, optimize payloads, and ensure scalability and security.
· Configure, maintain, and optimize Gradle build systems for Kotlin Multiplatform projects, including dependency and version management.
· Enforce clean architecture and modular design, performing regular code reviews and ensuring high code quality.
· Support CI/CD pipelines by integrating build automation, testing, and release workflows for mobile and shared modules.
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to cross‑platform builds, API failures, and production defects.
What we expect
· 20+ years Strong hands‑on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) for shared mobile codebases
· Proficiency in native iOS development using Swift
· Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, authentication, and error handling
· Experience with Gradle build configurations, dependency and version management
· Knowledge of mobile app architecture (MVVM, Clean Architecture)
· Strong debugging, performance optimization, and code review skills
· Experience collaborating with backend and cross‑functional teams

Salary and Other Compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $102,150 – $161,500 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
Working arrangements
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client office in Toronto, ON.
