About the role
As a Senior QA Automation Engineer with Java and Gherkin, you will make an impact by delivering high-quality automation solutions that support scalable, reliable, and efficient testing of modern microservices-based applications. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to ensure successful software delivery in an Agile environment.
In this role, you will:
· Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks using Java, Cucumber, and Gherkin.
· Create and execute API automation test scripts for microservices-based applications.
· Develop reusable automation utilities and testing components that support scalable and maintainable quality engineering practices.
· Perform end-to-end, regression, integration, and system testing across multiple applications and platforms.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, participate in Agile ceremonies, validate business workflows, and support defect resolution efforts

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Newark, New Jersey. What you need to have to be considered
· 5-8 years of experience in QA
· Strong experience in QA Automation and test framework development.
· Hands-on experience with Java, Cucumber, and Gherkin (BDD).
· Proven expertise in API Automation Testing.
· Experience testing microservices-based applications and distributed systems.
· Ability to create test strategies, test scenarios, and test cases while executing functional, regression, integration, and system testing.
· Experience working in Agile environments with participation in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and defect triage activities.
These will help you stand out
· Experience with database testing, backend data validation, and data ingestion testing.
· Knowledge of the Insurance domain and related business processes.
· Experience developing reusable automation utilities and framework components.
· Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for identifying, documenting, and tracking defects.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical and business stakeholders.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477 to 92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans
