Job Summary
We are seeking an Azure Data Engineer with strong expertise in Databricks and PySpark to build and maintain scalable data pipelines on the Azure platform. This role focuses on transforming business requirements into technical solutions, supporting data integration, and ensuring high-quality data delivery. You will work closely with business analysts, product teams, and offshore developers to deliver reliable and efficient data engineering solutions. The position requires solid programming skills, experience with cloud data platforms, and familiarity with Agile delivery models.
In this role, you will:
· Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Databricks and PySpark.
· Collaborate with business analysts and product teams to understand and translate requirements into technical solutions.
· Create technical specifications and source-to-target mapping documents.
· Write, test, and optimize PySpark code and Databricks notebooks for data processing.
· Perform unit testing and support defect resolution with QA and business testers.
· Coordinate with administrators for deployment, version control, and release management.
· Lead and coordinate offshore development teams to ensure timely delivery of solutions.
· Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and PI discussions.
What you need to have to be considered
· 8–10 years of experience in data engineering with strong expertise in Azure Databricks.
· Hands-on experience with Python, PySpark, and Databricks notebooks.
· Good understanding of data engineering concepts, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data transformations.
· Proficiency with version control tools such as GitHub.
· Experience in creating technical specifications and data mapping documents.
· Familiarity with Unity Catalog or similar data governance tools is a plus.
· Strong collaboration and communication skills, including experience working with offshore teams.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $[107,000 - 125,500] depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
