About the role
As a Senior Generative AI / AI Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and implementing AI-powered applications, agentic AI solutions, and machine learning systems that accelerate software development and business innovation. You will be a valued member of the AI and Engineering team, working collaboratively with software engineers, architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders to build scalable, enterprise-grade AI solutions.
In this role, you will:
· Develop AI-enabled web applications using Generative AI tools such as Claude and modern technologies including .NET, React, Python, and ASP.NET/C#.
· Design and implement agentic AI solutions that support software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, code generation, code review, testing, and deployment.
· Build scalable AI architectures using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, and enterprise API integrations.
· Train, fine-tune, optimize, and deploy large language models (LLMs) and generative AI models while balancing performance, accuracy, scalability, and cost.
· Develop and integrate machine learning models with .NET applications through REST or gRPC services, while monitoring production environments and ensuring compliance with AI governance, privacy, and ethical standards.

What you need to have to be considered
3+ years of professional software development experience.
3+ years of machine learning engineering experience, including model development, deployment, and optimization.
3+ years of hands-on experience with Python and ASP.NET/C# development.
2+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure services and cloud-native application development.
2+ years of experience deploying and supporting machine learning models in production environments.
This will help you stand out
Experience within the financial services or fintech industry.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience working in fintech or financial services organizations.
3+ years of dedicated experience designing and implementing Azure-based solutions.
Microsoft Azure certifications, such as AZ-204, AZ-305, or equivalent cloud and AI certifications.
Experience with prompt engineering, AI orchestration frameworks, LLMOps, model monitoring, and responsible AI practices.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $81,337 to $141,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
