About the role
We are seeking a Senior UI Developer (React & TypeScript) to design, develop, and maintain modern, scalable web applications that deliver exceptional user experiences. In this role, you will leverage React 18+, TypeScript, and modern frontend development practices to build high-performing applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to architectural decisions, optimize application performance, and ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions in an agile environment.
In this role, you will:
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using React 18+, leveraging modern features such as hooks, concurrent rendering, and component-driven architecture.
· Build reusable, responsive, and high-performing UI components using JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.
· Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and services to deliver seamless end-to-end functionality.
· Apply frontend architecture best practices and implement efficient state management solutions using Redux Toolkit, Context API, or Zustand.
· Implement and monitor application telemetry using tools such as Application Insights and OpenTelemetry to track application health, performance, and user behavior.
· Analyze and contribute to KPI reviews, including Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP), page performance metrics, and user engagement analytics.
· Optimize application performance through techniques such as lazy loading, code splitting, memoization, and efficient rendering strategies.
· Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and troubleshooting activities using tools such as Jest and React Testing Library to ensure high-quality software delivery.
· Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, designers, and engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions and enhancements.
· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote frontend engineering best practices across development teams.
Work model:

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Woonsocket, RI. What you need to have to be considered
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
· Experience developing and maintaining web applications using React 18+.
· Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.
· Experience building reusable UI components and integrating applications with RESTful APIs.
· Knowledge of modern state management solutions, including Redux Toolkit, Context API, or Zustand.
· Experience implementing application monitoring and telemetry solutions using tools such as Application Insights or OpenTelemetry.
· Understanding of frontend performance optimization techniques and web performance best practices.
· Experience with software testing frameworks such as Jest and React Testing Library.
· Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and collaborative software delivery practices.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

· Experience monitoring and improving Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) and frontend performance metrics.
· Expertise in frontend architecture and scalable component design patterns.
· Experience with application observability, telemetry, and user analytics platforms.
· Strong understanding of accessibility, responsive design, and modern web development standards.
· Experience contributing to code reviews, mentoring team members, and driving technical excellence.
· Familiarity with CI/CD practices and modern DevOps workflows.
· Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
· Passion for continuous learning and staying current with emerging frontend technologies and industry trends.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $68,442 to $114,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
