About the role
As a Java Automation Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, implementing, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines and test automation solutions that support the delivery of high-quality enterprise applications. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with software developers, QA engineers, DevOps professionals, and cloud platform teams to enhance release quality, deployment reliability, and operational efficiency.

In this role, you will:
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Java and Spring Boot applications to support efficient software delivery.
Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline, build, deployment, and test automation issues to ensure stability and reliability.
Support application deployments and release activities across Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and other cloud environments.
Partner with development, QA, and DevOps teams to improve automation coverage, release processes, and overall software quality.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week onsite in Phoenix, Arizona. What you need to have to be considered
8+ years demonstrated experience developing and supporting Java and Spring Boot applications, including build and deployment processes.
Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar automation tools.
Experience creating and maintaining automated API, functional, integration, and regression test suites.
Proficiency with automation frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, Selenium, and/or Rest Assured.
Hands-on experience deploying and supporting applications within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
Strong knowledge of Git, Maven and/or Gradle, build automation practices, and modern DevOps methodologies.
Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose pipeline, deployment, and test execution issues.
These will help you stand out
Experience working in enterprise-scale cloud migration or modernization initiatives.
Exposure to additional cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
Experience implementing CI/CD best practices in highly regulated or large-scale environments.
Knowledge of application performance testing, quality engineering, and release management practices.
Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance deployment speed, quality, and reliability.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $68,422 to $131,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
