Job Summary
This hybrid day shift role requires an experienced Technical Lead with eight to ten years in mainframe delivery using CoolGen CA Gen ten CICS VSAM JCL DB2 and Cobol to design build and optimize banking solutions. The role focuses on guiding technical implementation ensuring performance and reliability and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver secure scalable applications that support retail banking services and organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead end to end technical design and implementation of mainframe solutions using CoolGen CA Gen ten CICS VSAM JCL DB2 and Cobol to meet complex business requirements and operational goals.
- Oversee translation of functional requirements into detailed technical specifications ensuring that mainframe components are aligned with architecture standards and long term scalability objectives.
- Provide technical direction on development coding and unit testing activities for mainframe applications driving consistent practices and high quality deliverables across the team.
- Drive optimization of CICS and Cobol based services to improve transaction throughput response time and reliability while controlling resource usage in production environments.
- Coordinate integration of DB2 database structures with application logic ensuring robust data modeling efficient query design and secure data access for banking processes.
- Guide configuration and use of VSAM files and JCL streams to support batch and online workloads ensuring accurate scheduling monitoring and timely completion of business jobs.
- Collaborate with product owners business analysts and testers to refine requirements clarify technical constraints and ensure that developed solutions satisfy core retail banking use cases.
- Manage code reviews defect analysis and remediation for mainframe components fostering reusable patterns maintainability and adherence to secure coding practices.
- Support migration and enhancement initiatives by assessing existing mainframe assets identifying modernization opportunities and planning incremental improvements with minimal disruption.
- Mentor developers and analysts on best practices for CoolGen CA Gen ten modeling CICS program structure DB2 design and efficient JCL ensuring skills growth and team self sufficiency.
- Coordinate nonfunctional testing activities including performance stability and resilience tests to validate that mainframe applications can handle expected retail banking transaction volumes.
- Ensure comprehensive technical documentation for programs jobs data structures and operational procedures so support teams can troubleshoot incidents and sustain production stability.
- Partner with infrastructure and operations teams to maintain alignment between application configurations system parameters and capacity planning needed for hybrid work models.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate strong hands on expertise in CoolGen CA Gen ten CICS VSAM JCL DB2 and Cobol with a proven record of delivering stable and scalable mainframe applications.
- Exhibit deep understanding of retail banking processes including accounts payments cards lending or channels enabling effective translation of domain needs into technical designs.
- Apply solid experience in performance tuning batch optimization and transaction processing on mainframe platforms ensuring efficient resource utilization and predictable service levels.
- Show proficiency in analyzing complex incidents performing root cause analysis and implementing durable fixes for production issues in highly regulated banking environments.
- Utilize experience in collaborating with cross functional teams such as testing operations and business stakeholders to coordinate releases and maintain smooth day to day delivery.
- Display familiarity with hybrid work models and remote collaboration tools ensuring timely communication progress tracking and documentation regardless of working location.
- Bring awareness of quality assurance practices configuration management and version control for mainframe codebases supporting structured delivery and audit readiness.
