About the Role
As a Senior Java Developer, you will make an impact by designing and developing scalable, high-performance backend solutions that support critical business applications. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, developers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative cloud-native solutions.
In This Role, You Will:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Java and modern microservices architectures.
- Build scalable REST APIs and event-driven services for enterprise applications.
- Develop cloud-native solutions leveraging reactive programming frameworks and distributed systems.
- Collaborate with Agile teams to drive technical design, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure application reliability, security, performance, and scalability.
- Participate in code reviews, testing activities, and engineering best practices.
- Leverage Generative AI tools to enhance productivity and software development processes.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered
- 7+ years of experience developing enterprise backend applications using Java/J2EE.
- Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and reactive programming frameworks.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices-based applications.
- Experience with messaging technologies, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Knowledge of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or other NoSQL/document databases.
- Familiarity with security principles and modern authentication and authorization protocols.
- Experience with software development tools such as Git, Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
These Will Help You Stand Out
- Experience using Generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, or similar AI-assisted development platforms.
- Experience developing applications using Kotlin.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality software.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position depends on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
