Role Summary
We are seeking a Teradata and Snowflake Migration Architect to lead enterprise data warehouse modernization and migration from Teradata to Snowflake. The role requires strong expertise in both platforms, cloud architecture, SQL and workload optimization, ETL/ELT, security, governance, performance, cost management, and end-to-end migration delivery.
Key Responsibilities
· Own the end-to-end Teradata and Snowflake solution architecture, including data design, integration, security, scalability, performance, and operations.
· Define the target Snowflake architecture, environment strategy, virtual warehouses, access controls, resource monitoring, and cost-optimization standards.
· Lead migration assessment and planning across databases, SQL, scripts, ETL pipelines, reports, dependencies, workloads, effort, risks, migration waves, and cutover.
· Drive conversion and modernization of Teradata SQL, BTEQ, TPT, database objects, and ETL workflows using SnowConvert AI or comparable tools.
· Architect high-volume data movement and ELT solutions using TPT, NOS/WRITE_NOS, cloud object storage, Snowflake stages, COPY INTO, Snowpipe, Informatica IDMC, dbt, and Python.
· Optimize Teradata and Snowflake workloads, data models, virtual warehouses, clustering, compute consumption, and query performance.
· Establish data reconciliation, validation, performance testing, parallel-run, cutover, rollback, hypercare, and legacy-decommissioning frameworks.
· Define security, governance, masking, lineage, quality, retention, privacy, and Test Data Management controls across both platforms.
· Provide architecture governance, technical leadership, stakeholder management, reusable migration standards, documentation, mentoring, and troubleshooting.
Required Experience and Skills
· Strong commercial experience in data architecture, data warehousing, or database engineering, with strong hands-on Teradata and Snowflake expertise.
· Proven leadership of a large-scale Teradata-to-Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouse migration.
· Deep knowledge of Teradata Vantage, SQL, physical design, workload management, TPT, BTEQ, Viewpoint, and performance tuning.
· Strong Snowflake expertise across architecture, virtual warehouses, micro-partitions, clustering, stages, Snowpipe, streams, tasks, dynamic tables, cloning, sharing, security, and cost optimization.
· Experience in migration discovery, dependency analysis, SQL and ETL conversion, source-to-target mapping, bulk loading, reconciliation, testing, cutover, rollback, and hypercare.
· Hands-on experience with Informatica IDMC, dbt or similar integration tools, plus Python and Unix/Linux scripting.
· Strong knowledge of cloud data architecture, data modelling, ETL/ELT, security, RBAC, masking, governance, metadata, lineage, and quality controls.
· Strong communication, architecture documentation, stakeholder management, troubleshooting, and technical-leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud and Snowflake migration accelerators such as SnowConvert AI.
· Experience building migration factories, automated validation utilities, CI/CD pipelines, and reusable delivery patterns.
· SnowPro, Teradata Vantage, or equivalent certification is preferred.
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
