Senior Project Manager (Forward Deployed Engineer – FDE)
About the role
As a Senior Project Manager (Forward Deployed Engineer – FDE), you will make an impact by bridging deep technical expertise with customer-facing consulting and product ownership to deliver innovative, scalable solutions. You will be a valued member of the delivery and engineering team, collaborating closely with clients, cross-functional engineering teams, and business stakeholders to drive successful outcomes in high-impact environments.

In this role, you will:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of complex, client-facing projects combining software engineering and product management
- Partner directly with clients to understand business needs and translate them into scalable technical solutions
- Drive solution design and implementation using modern technologies such as Python, Vertex AI, and AngularJS
- Manage project portfolios, timelines, risks, and stakeholder communication using PPM best practices
- Provide domain expertise within the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR)/Fast Food industry and support strategic client engagements

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a Cognizant office or client location in Austin, TX. What you need to have to be considered
- 10–12 years of experience in software engineering, project management, or hybrid technical consulting roles
- Strong expertise in Python, J2EE, and Core Java for enterprise application development
- Experience with Vertex AI and AngularJS or similar modern frameworks
- Proven experience managing portfolios and projects using PPM methodologies
- Hands-on experience working in or delivering solutions for the Fast Food / QSR industry
- Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
These will help you stand out
- Experience working with major QSR brands such as Wendy’s (FreshAI), McDonald’s, Starbucks, Burger King, Taco Bell, Dutch Bros, or Panera Bread
- Background working with ISVs or within Hi-Tech domain environments
- Experience in hybrid roles combining engineering, consulting, and product ownership
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive decision-making in complex environments
- Strong problem-solving mindset with adaptability in fast-paced delivery environments
Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until June 21st, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $110,000 - $140,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
