Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced GitHub Enterprise Migration Lead to support and coordinate large-scale GitHub migration initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Migration Execution & Project Management
- Lead and coordinate end-to-end migration activities using GitHub Enterprise Importer (GHE Importer).
- Plan and manage migration waves and sequencing.
- Coordinate timelines, dependencies, and activities across multiple application teams.
- Track progress and provide regular status updates to management.
Team Support & Enablement
- Develop migration documentation, guides, and best practices for application teams.
- Provide advisory support and training on migration processes and tools.
- Assist teams with GitHub migration tools, including GHE Importer and GitHub Mannequins.
- Troubleshoot migration issues and resolve technical blockers.
User & Data Migration
- Execute and support user migration using GitHub Mannequins to map local accounts to Entra ID.
- Manage group and organization restructuring activities.
- Ensure compliance with EU data residency requirements.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for application teams throughout the migration.
- Maintain clear, timely, and effective communication with stakeholders.
- Ensure a smooth transition with minimal disruption to development workflows.
Requirements
Must-Have Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with GitHub Enterprise migrations, particularly using GitHub Enterprise Importer.
- Proven experience migrating large numbers of repositories, users, and organizations.
- Deep understanding of GitHub Enterprise Server (GHE), organizations, teams, and permissions.
- Experience with GitHub Mannequins for user account migration.
- Familiarity with Entra ID (Azure AD) integration in enterprise GitHub environments.
- Strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale GitHub migrations involving 500+ repositories.
- Knowledge of EU data residency and compliance requirements.
- Experience working in large, matrixed organizations.
- Background in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Enterprise IT migration programs.
