Developer Platform Engineer
Location :- Hartford CT
Developer Platform Engineer to enhance the organization’s Local Developer Experience (LDX) ecosystem while owning the DevOps and DevSecOps toolchain that connects local development to enterprise CI/CD and production delivery. The role embodies the Engineering Enablement vision of empowering engineers to seamlessly build, test, and deploy code from local development through production, promoting best practices and consistency across the organization.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, administering, standardizing, and supporting developer workstation environments and local development toolchains – Visual Studio, Docker Desktop, .NET, and JDK – and for integrating those local workflows directly with the enterprise CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD) and the Travelers Engineering Portal (TEP) pipeline ecosystem. The candidate will define development standards, automate workstation provisioning, embed DevSecOps controls, and reduce onboarding time while ensuring secure, compliant, and reproducible development-to-production parity.
This is a hands-on engineering and SME role. The candidate must independently implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and continuously enhance both developer tooling and CI/CD platforms, serving as the subject matter expert for local development environments and the DevOps pipelines they feed into.
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-standard local developer environments across Windows-based (and MacOS, where applicable) development workstations.
Act as the technical lead and administrator for Visual Studio, Docker Desktop, .NET SDK/Runtime, and JDK platforms.
Establish and maintain standardized workstation baselines, tooling configurations, golden images, and automated provisioning for developer systems to reduce setup and onboarding time.
Create reusable local development templates, starter kits, and environment blueprints for application teams across multiple technology stacks.
Define and enforce standards for IDE configuration, code quality tooling, SDK versions, package management, and local development workflows.
Manage version lifecycle, upgrades, compatibility testing, and patching of developer tools and frameworks, with software asset management and license governance
Troubleshoot complex issues across IDEs, SDKs, containers, build tools, and runtime environments, providing L3 support for local development.
