About the role
As a Performance Test Lead, you will make an impact by leading performance testing and engineering efforts — designing test strategies and building the monitoring infrastructure that helps teams catch performance issues before they reach customers. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with development, operations, architecture, and product teams.
In this role, you will:
- Design and lead execution of performance test strategies (load, stress, and endurance testing), including NFR collection, workload modeling, KPI definition, and test planning/reporting
- Write and maintain performance test scripts using JMeter, LoadRunner, and K6
- Configure and maintain performance monitoring and alerting using Dynatrace, Splunk, and other APM tools, setting thresholds and analyzing infrastructure/application metrics to identify root causes
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, or Bamboo) and build supporting automation/scripting
- Partner with customer-side managers, engineering, and architecture teams to scope requirements, propose solutions, and communicate results and recommendations
Work model:
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position based out of a client or Cognizant office in Sydney, NSW. Regardless of your working arrangement, we are here to support a healthy work-life balance through our various wellbeing programs.

- Strong background in performance testing/performance engineering, with strong troubleshooting and bottleneck-analysis skills
- Hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter and LoadRunner (K6 experience a strong advantage)
- Proven experience with NFR collection, workload modeling, KPI definition, test strategy/plans, and performance reporting
- Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, New Relic, or similar APM tools), including interpreting infrastructure and application metrics during test runs
- Experience integrating performance testing into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, or Bamboo) with supporting scripting/automation
These will help you stand out
- Experience with cloud-based performance testing and monitoring
- Basic programming skills (Java, JavaScript, Python) and query-writing ability
- Strong customer-facing communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Experience scripting in Gatling
- Familiarity with the broader SDLC and cross-functional collaboration with dev/ops/product teams
