About the Role
As a Senior Java Backend Engineer, you will make an impact by building and supporting scalable, cloud-native enterprise applications. You will collaborate with architects, product owners, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality backend solutions.

In This Role, You Will:
Design and develop enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
Build and support event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka.
Optimize database performance using Hibernate/JPA and advanced SQL.
Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable solutions.
Deploy and support applications on Azure, AWS, or GCP using Docker and Kubernetes.
Collaborate with business and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions.
Leverage AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity and code quality.

What You Need to Have to Be Considered
Minimum 8 years of IT experience with strong hands-on expertise in Java (11/17/21), Spring Boot, and Microservices.
Experience designing and building large-scale, high-performance distributed applications.
Strong experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
Expertise in Hibernate/JPA, data modeling, advanced SQL, and database tuning.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong problem-solving, debugging, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
These Will Help You Stand Out
Experience using GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools.
Experience working in cloud-native and containerized enterprise environments.
Knowledge of application performance monitoring and observability tools.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $60,000 to $93,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
