Service Line Specialist (SLS)
About the Role
As a Service Line Specialist (SLS), you will drive growth, client engagement, and solution adoption within your assigned service line. You will partner with clients, account teams, delivery leaders, and practice stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop strategic solutions, and expand business relationships.
This is a client-facing leadership role that combines business development, solution consulting, industry expertise, and revenue accountability to accelerate growth and deliver business value for clients.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth & Revenue Management
· Drive revenue growth across assigned accounts and territories.
· Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities.
· Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities.
· Develop account growth strategies aligned with client objectives.
· Support deal pursuit activities through proposal development, presentations, and solution positioning.
Client Relationship Management
· Establish trusted advisor relationships with client executives and key stakeholders.
· Understand client business priorities and technology roadmaps.
· Drive account expansion through cross-sell and upsell opportunities.
· Collaborate with account teams to increase wallet share and client satisfaction.
Solutioning & Consulting
· Lead client discussions around business challenges and transformation opportunities.
· Work with practice and delivery teams to develop differentiated solutions.
· Support solution architecture, value propositions, and commercial strategy.
· Present thought leadership and industry insights to clients.
Practice & Capability Development
· Provide market feedback to service line leadership.
· Support development of offerings, assets, and go-to-market initiatives.
· Mentor teams and contribute to capability-building activities.
· Represent the organization at industry events and client engagements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Partner with sales, consulting, delivery, and alliance teams.
· Ensure successful transition from deal closure to delivery execution.
· Support governance and executive reviews for strategic accounts.
Key Requirements
ü Quota-carrying sales ownership: Proven track record of generating revenue, managing pipeline, and closing large deals
ü Ability to engage senior stakeholders (CXO level): Experience leading strategic conversations with executives on transformation initiatives
ü Consultative and solution-selling mindset: Ability to position business value, not just sell services or solutions
ü Pipeline development and deal execution: Lead end-to-end sales cycle including lead generation, RFPs, and deal closure
ü Collaboration across teams and practices: Work closely with delivery, solutioning, and client partners in a matrix environment
ü Strategic account growth capability: Develop expansion strategies, cross-sell services, and deepen client relationships
Qualifications
ü Senior-level IT services sales experience: Background selling digital, cloud, or software engineering services to enterprise clients
ü Domain exposure (Technology / Communications & Media): Experience supporting telecom, media, or tech-driven accounts is preferred
ü Strong technical understanding of SEG offerings: Knowledge of software engineering, application modernization, QA, and AI-led services
ü Experience in enterprise environments: Comfortable operating in large, matrixed organizations with global teams
ü Advanced education or certifications (preferred): MBA or certifications in cloud/AI enhance credibility in client discussions
ü +10 years of experience in IT services and consulting: Extensive experience selling digital, cloud or software engineering services to enterprise clients
Preferred Qualifications
· Master's degree or MBA.
· Experience managing large enterprise accounts.
· Expertise within a specific domain such as AI & Analytics, Intelligent Operations, Digital Engineering, Cloud, Infrastructure, Data, or Industry Platforms.
· Demonstrated success leading large strategic pursuits and complex transformations.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual base salary for this position is between $150,000-$180,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
