About the role
As a Senior Automation Test Engineer you will make an impact by driving automation-first quality engineering practices and applying Generative AI to modernize testing strategies. You will be a valued member of the Quality Engineering team and work collaboratively with software engineers, product teams, and DevOps stakeholders to ensure high-quality, scalable, and reliable solutions.
In this role, you will
· Lead quality engineering efforts across multiple projects, with a strong focus on automation and continuous testing.
· Design, implement, and optimize automated test solutions for web, mobile, and backend services.
· Apply Generative AI techniques to improve test coverage, defect detection, and overall testing efficiency.
· Use advanced prompt engineering to automate workflows, generate test scenarios, and enhance productivity.
· Troubleshoot complex technical issues, analyze results, and continuously improve test reliability and scalability.
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week in a Cognizant office in Austin, Texas. What you need to have to be considered
· 5–7 years of professional experience in software quality engineering, with experience driving automation initiatives.
· Strong proficiency in Python to support a highly technical SDET and automation environment.
· Hands-on experience automating functional and integration testing for web applications, mobile applications, and backend services.
· Solid understanding of QA automation frameworks, testing methodologies, processes, and tools.
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
These will help you stand out
· Experience using Generative AI to enhance testing or quality engineering practices.
· Working knowledge of Java and/or Swift in test automation scenarios.
· Practical experience with prompt engineering to enable automation and AI-driven solutions.
· Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
· A mindset focused on innovation, continuous learning, and staying current with emerging AI and testing trends.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until May 15th, 2026
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477 to 92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
