Job Summary

We are seeking a Technical Lead with strong expertise in Cobol, DB2, and JCL to support critical initiatives within the Cards and Payments domain. This role will drive technical design, ensure high-quality delivery, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, and implementation of solutions using Cobol, DB2, and JCL
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Provide technical leadership and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Manage and optimize DB2 databases for performance and data integrity
  • Perform testing, debugging, and code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Monitor and resolve production issues with minimal downtime
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs
  • Maintain technical documentation for systems and processes
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems and team productivity
  • Support project timelines in coordination with project managers

Key Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of experience in Cobol, DB2, and JCL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience delivering complex technical projects
  • Knowledge of SDLC and agile methodologies
  • Ability to mentor and guide team members
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Certifications (Preferred)

  • IBM Certified Database Associate – DB2
  • COBOL Programming Certification

Salary Range: $60,000 – $90,000 per year

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
