About the role
As a SOC Analyst (Level 2), you will make an impact by detecting, investigating, and responding to cybersecurity threats to protect the organization’s information assets. You will be a valued member of the Information Protection and Risk Management (IPRM) team, working closely with the Security Operations Center (SOC), Incident Response, and cross-functional security partners to manage and mitigate security risks across the enterprise.
In this role, you will:
Monitor, triage, and respond to real-time security alerts and events using established processes and best practices
Conduct advanced security investigations, including root cause analysis and threat analysis
Support incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and post-incident reviews
Perform data analysis using SIEM and other security analytics platforms to identify trends and anomalies
Investigate phishing incidents and support remediation efforts
Determine event severity, escalate incidents as required, and ensure timely communication
Create and maintain accurate documentation of security events to meet audit and regulatory requirements
Develop and enhance response playbooks, procedures, and operational documentation
Produce reports and metrics related to security events and SOC performance
Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days per week onsite in a Cognizant or client office in Charlotte, NC.

What you need to have to be considered
Minimum 4 years of experience in information security or security operations
Strong working knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and application logic
Experience performing security investigations, incident triage, and root cause analysis
Ability to analyze large data sets to identify suspicious or malicious activity
Broad understanding of security controls and mitigation techniques across multiple layers
Awareness of the current cybersecurity threat landscape
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills with attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
These will help you stand out
Cloud security experience in AWS and/or Azure
Hands-on experience with SOAR platforms, including playbook development and troubleshooting
Experience using cloud-native services such as Lambda, ECS, EKS, DynamoDB, S3, EventBridge, or equivalent Azure services
Familiarity with cloud-based monitoring and incident response tools
Ability to write, test, and debug Python scripts or applications
Experience with DevOps tools and processes, such as GitLab
Exposure to containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
Relevant certifications such as GCIA, GCIH, or other GIAC certifications

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until May 17, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $ 89,000 - $ 108,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
