About the role
As a Senior Architect – Front End, you will make an impact by designing and delivering scalable, secure, and high‑performance web applications that support critical business outcomes. You will be a valued member of a cross‑functional engineering team, working closely with product owners, backend engineers, QA teams, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into reliable, user‑focused technical solutions.

In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and architect scalable front‑end applications using Vue.js, JavaScript, and GraphQL to meet evolving business needs.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather, analyze, and refine technical requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, promoting best practices, clean code, and consistent architectural standards.
Optimize application performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing efficient, maintainable solutions.
Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, security, and adherence to established architectural and development standards.
Develop and maintain technical documentation to support ongoing development, knowledge sharing, and future enhancements.
Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical designs that integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
Implement and enforce security best practices to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring time onsite at a Cognizant or client office in Boston, MA.
The working arrangements for this role are accurate as of the date of posting and may change based on client or business needs. We will always be clear about role expectations.

What you need to have to be considered
12–13 years of experience designing and delivering enterprise‑scale applications using Vue.js, JavaScript, and GraphQL.
Proven ability to architect scalable, maintainable, and high‑performance front‑end solutions.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile delivery methodologies.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across technical and non‑technical teams.
Experience contributing to or leading architectural decisions in large or complex environments.

Certification Requirement
Certified JavaScript Developer or equivalent certification in Vue.js or GraphQL from a recognized provider.

These will help you stand out
Experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance domain.
Prior experience modernizing or enhancing enterprise platforms in regulated environments.
Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction without formal people management responsibility.

Please note: This role will require an in-person meet and greet at our Cognizant offices or client location.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or equivalent

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $88,200 to $139,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
