Role Summary
The Appian Developer builds and configures Appian application components as part of a project team delivering solutions for Singapore public-sector clients. The role focuses on implementing designs handed down by Senior Developers and the Architect, with growing ownership of features, integrations, and defect resolution as experience develops. Developers are expected to follow government-grade coding, security, and documentation standards from day one.
Key Responsibilities
• Build Appian interfaces (SAIL), process models, Records, Sites, and Task Reports according to design specifications.
• Implement Appian security configuration (groups, role maps) as directed by the Senior Developer/Architect.
• Develop and maintain CDTs required for assigned modules.
• Support external system integration work under the guidance of senior team members.
• Implement functional requirements as translated from business/user stories into Appian components.
• Perform unit testing and fix defects identified during SIT/UAT cycles.
• Maintain clean, well-documented code aligned to Appian and project coding standards.
• Assist with data migration, environment setup tasks, and deployment activities as required.
• Escalate blockers or design ambiguities promptly to Senior Developer/Architect.
Required Skills & Experience
• At least 2+ years of hands-on Appian development experience and 3+ years overall in IT.
• Experience with Appian 20.x and above.
• Good understanding of defining and managing Appian security.
• Working proficiency in SAIL scripting.
• Experience building and using CDTs.
• Experience with Task Reports, Records, and Sites.
• Exposure to external system integration.
• Sound knowledge of RDBMS fundamentals.
• Good working knowledge of Appian best practices as published by Appian.
• Ability to understand requirements and implement them accurately.
Certifications
• Appian Certified Associate Developer (required).
• Appian Certified Senior Developer (an advantage).
Singapore Public Sector — Specific Requirements
• Prior exposure to Singapore Government or statutory board projects is an advantage but not mandatory at this level.
• Willingness to work within government-mandated processes, including restricted device/network policies and structured change-management procedures.
• Basic awareness of data classification and confidentiality handling expected on public-sector engagements.
• Willingness to work on-site at government premises as required by the engagement.
Soft Skills & Client Engagement
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude towards learning agency-specific processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a structured, process-driven government project team.
• Reliable, detail-oriented approach to documentation and testing.
