Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Platform Operations Engineer to support mission-critical infrastructure platforms within a large-scale public sector environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring platform stability, operational excellence, infrastructure governance, and supporting ongoing modernization initiatives across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.

This role requires a strong combination of infrastructure operations, incident management, vendor coordination, technical governance, and project delivery experience. Prior experience working in a Singapore Government or Public Sector environment is mandatory.


Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Platform Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day operational support and maintenance of critical infrastructure platforms across on-premises and hybrid environments.
  • Provide technical oversight for compute, virtualization, operating systems, storage, backup, disaster recovery (DR), and high-availability (HA) platforms.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of complex incidents, including root cause analysis and recovery planning.
  • Monitor platform health, performance, availability, and operational readiness.

Vendor & Service Management

  • Coordinate with vendors and support teams to ensure operational tasks, incidents, service requests, and deliverables are completed within agreed timelines.
  • Manage escalations and drive issue resolution across multiple stakeholders.
  • Review service requests, technical implementations, and operational procedures to ensure quality and supportability.

Technical & Security Governance

  • Support infrastructure governance activities, including change reviews, risk assessments, compliance alignment, and operational readiness reviews.
  • Ensure infrastructure operations comply with organizational security and architectural standards.
  • Review implementation and rollback plans for infrastructure changes.

Infrastructure Refresh & Modernization

  • Support infrastructure transformation and technology refresh initiatives while maintaining stable day-to-day operations.
  • Coordinate infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and modernization activities across internal teams and vendors.
  • Track project risks, dependencies, action items, and milestones to ensure successful delivery.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with application, network, cloud, and security teams to resolve platform-related issues.
  • Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and governance artefacts.
  • Provide regular status updates to project teams, management, and stakeholders.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Infrastructure Operations, Platform Operations, or Systems Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in Singapore Government, Statutory Board, Public Sector, or Government-linked environments.
  • Experience supporting production or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure operations, including:
    • Virtualization
    • Operating Systems
    • Storage
    • Backup & Recovery
    • Networking
    • High Availability & Disaster Recovery
  • Experience managing vendors and outsourced support teams.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure issues.
  • Experience supporting technical governance, change management, or approval processes.
  • Experience coordinating technical projects, tracking risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Technical Skills

Required

  • VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, or similar virtualization platforms
  • Red Hat Linux and/or Windows Server administration
  • Enterprise storage and backup solutions
  • Monitoring, logging, observability, and alerting platforms
  • Networking fundamentals:
    • TCP/IP
    • DNS
    • Routing
    • Firewalls
    • Load Balancers
    • Network Segmentation
  • Hybrid cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS)

    • Ansible

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • Microsoft Windows Server Certifications
  • ITIL v4 Foundation
  • AWS Associate Certification
  • Microsoft Azure Associate Certification
