About the role
As a Java Technical Lead, you will make an impact by leading the design and development of scalable, enterprise-level applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture. You will be a valued member of the application development team and work collaboratively with architects, product stakeholders, and developers to establish technical direction and deliver high-quality solutions.
In this role, you will:
· Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale Java applications using Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
· Define architecture and coding standards while conducting design and code reviews to support scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
· Provide technical direction to the development team and troubleshoot complex distributed systems and critical production issues.
· Lead Agile delivery activities, including sprint planning, technical estimation, backlog refinement, and alignment with business priorities.
· Mentor junior and mid-level developers and serve as the primary technical point of contact for architects, product stakeholders, and delivery teams.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Johns Creek, GA. What you need to have to be considered
· At least 10 years of experience in Java application development, including experience leading development teams and providing technical direction for enterprise-scale applications.
· Advanced proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
· Experience defining technical standards, conducting design and code reviews, and applying best practices for scalable and maintainable applications.
· Experience leading teams in an Agile delivery model, including sprint planning, technical estimation, and delivery management using JIRA.
· Strong troubleshooting skills with experience resolving complex issues across distributed systems and production environments.
This will help you stand out
· Experience mentoring developers and collaborating with architects, product stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
· Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
· Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
· Hands-on experience with generative AI or AI-assisted software development tools.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $70,000 to $117,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
