ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Geospatial Data Technician is responsible for assessing, manipulating and modifying geospatial third party data sets. Experience in GIS data processing is required including coursework and/or previous work in ArcGIS, QGIS. This role includes a customer experience component that involves interaction with our external GIS professional partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manipulate geospatial data sets in ArcGIS/QGIS/relevant mapping software,
  • Evaluate geospatial data sets for freshness, quality and accuracy,
  • Research open source geospatial base map data sets and evaluate for quality,
  • Respond to geospatial data providers questions using industry knowledge and customer care,
  • Use mapping tools and GIS experience to continually improve mapping accuracy and edits,
  • Analyze mapping data and make decisions based on policy to complete mapping workflows,
  • Run QA tools,
  • Enter key mapping metadata and other information as requested with high accuracy,
  • Proactively identify and raise systemic problems with tools or processes.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of English language on at least B2 level,
  • Experience in GIS data processing,
  • Ability to analyze the components of a shapefile and other standard formats for data quality,
  • Recognize appropriate data projection for data sets based on location and standards,
  • A positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward partners at all times,
  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot problems with minimal oversight,
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
  • Attention to detail,
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure,
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
