Quality Engineer (Playwright with Insurance Domain)

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer with strong experience in Java and Playwright to design, build, and maintain robust test automation frameworks for our core enterprise Wealth Management applications. In this role, you will develop comprehensive UI and API test suites, drive automation coverage across complex web platforms, and integrate intelligent quality gates into our CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable software releases.

In this role, you will

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Java and modern design principles.
• Build and execute automated test suites for UI, API, and backend validation using Playwright and related technologies.
• Develop robust, reusable components leveraging modern Java design patterns, Page Object Model (POM) structures, and test data management strategies.
• Automate service-layer and API tests using REST Assured or Playwright's APIRequestContext to optimize execution speed and coverage.
• Triage execution failures using Playwright trace viewers and logs, isolating real defects from flaky tests to maintain high framework reliability.
• Analyze and validate end-to-end Wealth Management ecosystems, including CRM, Portfolio Management Systems, Advisory Platforms, Book of Record systems, Financial Planning tools, and data integrations across front, middle, and back-office operations.
• Integrate comprehensive test suites into CI/CD pipelines (such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions) for parallel, cross-browser execution and automated reporting.

What you need to have to be considered:

• 6+ years of experience in Software Testing and Test Automation.
• Strong proficiency in Java, including Streams, Lambdas, Collections, and modern design patterns.
• Hands-on experience in Java-based automation framework development.
• Must have 2+ years of strong experience with Playwright for UI automation, API testing, and backend validation.
• Experience with Git, version control systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of Kafka, MongoDB, and AWS S3.
• Strong knowledge of Wealth Management business processes, including Client Onboarding, KYC, Portfolio Management, Investment Products, Mutual Funds, Securities, Registered/Non-Registered Accounts, and Wealth Advisory platforms.
• Experience in Canadian Wealth Management regulations and compliance, including CIRO/MFDA standards, suitability assessments, regulatory reporting, investment account management, and client servicing processes.
• Ability to analyze and validate end-to-end Wealth Management ecosystems, including CRM, Portfolio Management Systems, Advisory Platforms, Book of Record systems, Financial Planning tools, and data integrations across front, middle, and back-office operations.

Total compensation:

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 60,000 - 90,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
