About the role
As an M365 Domain Migration Architect, you will make an impact by leading enterprise-scale Active Directory and Microsoft 365 migration initiatives. You will be responsible for designing and executing domain migration strategies, hybrid identity integrations, M365 transformations, and workplace technology modernization programs. You will collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure seamless migrations with minimal business disruption.
In this role, you will
- Design and execute Active Directory forest and domain migration strategies for large enterprise environments.
- Assess, rationalize, and migrate Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Organizational Units (OUs), trusts, DNS, and Active Directory services.
- Develop migration and coexistence architectures, including cutover, rollback, remediation, and pilot deployment plans.
- Manage identity migration activities involving SID History, Kerberos, NTLM, SPNs, service accounts, and authentication services.
- Integrate and support Hybrid Identity solutions using Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Utilize Quest Migration Manager and Quest ODM for Active Directory migration projects.
- Develop PowerShell automation scripts to streamline migration activities and operational processes.
- Perform application and server dependency assessments and create migration wave plans.
- Lead workplace technology migrations including device migration between domains, SCCM/Intune deployment, Autopilot configuration, imaging, packaging, patching, and distribution tools.
- Drive Microsoft 365 migration initiatives involving Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, telephony platforms, and video collaboration solutions.
- Implement and support Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, including Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations and Azure-based identity services.
- Ensure security and compliance through Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud Apps, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Microsoft Purview Information Protection policies.

What you need to have to be considered
- 15+ years of experience in Microsoft infrastructure and enterprise migration engagements.
- Extensive expertise in Active Directory architecture, administration, and domain migrations.
- Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale Microsoft 365 migration and transformation programs.
- Strong knowledge of AD DS, DNS, Sites and Services, trusts, Group Policy, and OU design.
- Experience with Hybrid Identity, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure IAM, and SSO implementations.
- Hands-on expertise with Quest Migration Manager and Quest ODM for Active Directory.
- Experience automating migration and operational activities using PowerShell.
- Strong understanding of Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams migrations.
- Experience with SCCM, Intune, Autopilot, Azure Virtual Desktop, imaging, packaging, and endpoint management solutions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft security technologies including Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud Apps, DLP, and Microsoft Purview.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, planning, and troubleshooting skills.

- Expertise in migration governance, risk management, and change management processes.
- Microsoft certifications related to Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Security, or Enterprise Administration.
- Experience working in regulated enterprise environments with complex identity and security requirements.
- Knowledge of migration methodologies, automation frameworks, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until October 12, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $163,000 - $185,000 USD depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
