THE ROLE:

Japan – part of Cognizant APJ and is one of the large BUs in APJ and is growing fast! As part of these growth plans, APJ BU is looking for a dynamic Large Deal leader to drive significant growth and continue our shift to larger more meaningful relationships with our strategic clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ownership of regional strategic pursuits with APJ: You will be responsible for managing the most significant and strategic pursuits within APJ (deals with TCV > $50-100M+)

  • Responsible for the overall pursuit strategy which includes Relationship strategy, Partner strategy, Commercial strategy, Competition strategy, Win themes and Deal Differentiators

  • Dive higher origination and better execution of Large Deals, working in conjunction with the Industry/Regional leads

  • Articulation of win themes: Adept at articulating win themes and value propositions that position Cognizant favorably with its customers

  • Specialization in deal-making: Differentiated Commercial Modelling, Deal shaping, Contractual negotiations

  • Clearly articulated close plans for large deals including pricing, negotiations

  • Oversee solution architecture to ensure clients’ buyer values and competitive intelligence are incorporated

  • Continuous learning and improvement from each deal and improve the processes and strategies for future pursuits.

  • Establish mindshare with Deal Advisors and Alliance partners in the region

  • Multi-team collaboration: Work in a multi-team environment

  • Customer partnership: Role involves gaining customer confidence and fostering partnerships.

  • Coordination with vertical leaders: While pursuing opportunities and managing your clients and industries, you will be expected to collaborate with vertical leaders.

  • Teamwork: proficient in working with different teams to achieve common goals.

  • Contribution to knowledge base: Expected to enrich the company's robust knowledge base by capturing best practices and challenges from previous deals.

  • Adaptability and agility in approach to deal-making, client management, growth and problem-solving.

The person who is ultimately selected for this role will have responsibility to drive Mega Deals within our Strategic Sales practice. This person should be very comfortable in articulating win themes and value propositions that position Cognizant favorably with its customers. Ideally, we would like to have a person in this role that would be able to work as a specialist in the area of deal making, schedule effectively to work on multiple deals and adept in working with different teams. Finally, we would like this person to add value to our robust knowledge by capturing best practices and challenges from their previous deals.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Large Deal Origination & Execution: Proven track record of creating and winning strategic large deals (TCV $50-100M+)

  • Industry Experience: Thorough domain knowledge with awareness / expertise in latest digital innovations in the industry / domain.

  • Client (C-level) Relationships: Possess an interest and passion towards engaging senior level executives in transformation solutions through consultative approach.

  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinking and the confidence and ability to plan ahead and stay the course

  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills & ability to make deals happen

  • Strong Networker: Must be able to navigate a large organization, work in a multi-dimensional matrix and have the power of persuasion through content and confidence

  • Outstanding Communication Skills: Excellent communication and facilitation skills. Ability to communicate strong stories and deliver impactful presentations

  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work with multi-cultural and geographically distributed teams. Should be a team person and able to lead different teams to a common goal.
