Test Manager

Job Summary

Test Manager role for an MNC focusing on complex data automation testing across AS400 and Cobol systems in a hybrid work model with day shifts and no travel. The role designs plans and manages end to end test activities ensuring quality traceability and robust coverage for automotive and other enterprise platforms while collaborating closely with cross functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Plan coordinate and monitor end to end testing activities for data automation solutions across AS400 and Cobol based applications to ensure consistent delivery of high quality releases that align with stakeholder expectations and organizational standards
• Design detailed test strategies and test plans that cover functional integration system and regression testing for data intensive workloads with clear entry and exit criteria and measurable quality outcomes
• Develop review and optimize automated test suites for data validation and process flows within AS400 and Cobol environments to increase test coverage reduce manual effort and accelerate release cycles
• Define and maintain test data management approaches for complex batch and online processes ensuring availability of accurate masked and reusable data sets that reflect real world usage scenarios
• Coordinate defect triage by analyzing issues raised during test cycles collaborating with development and business teams to prioritize fixes and driving timely resolutions that protect production stability
• Track and report test progress using metrics such as coverage defect trends and execution status while communicating risks and mitigation plans clearly to project stakeholders and management teams
• Collaborate with business analysts and product teams to validate requirements for data automation features ensuring that test conditions and scenarios accurately reflect user journeys and regulatory needs
• Guide test engineers in implementing best practices for automation frameworks on AS400 Cobol stacks including coding standards reusability guidelines and robust validation checkpoints
• Ensure alignment of test activities with hybrid working practices by organizing clear documentation structured handovers and effective virtual collaboration routines that support distributed teams
• Review batch jobs interfaces and downstream reporting impacts in automotive and related domains to verify that data transformations and calculations meet safety compliance and performance expectations
• Drive continuous improvement of testing processes by analyzing past releases identifying inefficiencies and implementing refined workflows tools and standards that enhance productivity and quality
• Coordinate environment readiness by validating that AS400 partitions job schedulers interfaces and stubs are correctly configured before test execution to reduce cycle delays and unstable runs
• Document lessons learned from each major release and translate them into actionable process updates that strengthen organizational knowledge and reduce recurrence of critical defects across programs

Qualifications

• Require professional experience of five to eight years in software testing with a strong focus on test management test planning and execution coordination for medium to large projects
• Require proven hands on experience in testing AS400 and Cobol based systems including batch and online components with solid understanding of job flows file structures and transaction processing
• Require strong skills in data automation testing including creating automated scripts for data validation reconciliation and transformation checks using suitable enterprise tools or custom frameworks
• Require experience in defect management and test management tools along with the ability to interpret metrics prepare test reports and present concise quality status to diverse stakeholders
• Require solid understanding of software development and testing lifecycles including requirement analysis test design risk based testing regression planning and release support activities
• Require excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively in hybrid teams coordinate with cross functional stakeholders and ensure shared understanding of quality goals
• Nice to have exposure to automotive industry processes such as manufacturing supply chain or telematics with appreciation for safety reliability and regulatory considerations in that domain
• Nice to have experience in performance and batch optimization testing for data heavy workloads on legacy platforms with focus on job throughput resource utilization and stability
• Nice to have familiarity with modern automation frameworks reporting dashboards and scripting approaches that can interface with AS400 or Cobol components to extend test coverage and transparency

Certifications Required

ISTQB Advanced Level Test Manager or comparable test management certification preferred
