Execute and document test cases across asset classes (Securities FX Derivatives OTCs etc) and applications.
- Skills: Hands-on test execution deep product knowledge experience with test management tools strong analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive test planning for web services and API platforms by defining scope objectives entry criteria exit criteria and detailed timelines aligned with business priorities and project milestones.
- Oversee design and documentation of test scenarios and test cases for REST API and SOAP services ensuring coverage for functional behavior integration flows edge conditions error handling and performance related validations.
- Coordinate test execution across system and integration test cycles using Postman SoapUI and other API tools to validate request and response structures status codes headers payload transformations and downstream impacts.
- Drive SQL based data validation by designing queries that verify data correctness referential integrity reconciliation rules and transaction posting across multiple schemas and environments used by investment banking operations platforms.
- Manage defect lifecycle using Jira by logging defects with clear reproduction steps technical context priority and severity and by tracking investigation resolution retesting and closure in alignment with agreed service levels.
- Collaborate with developers business analysts and operations stakeholders to clarify requirements refine acceptance criteria and resolve ambiguities impacting test design for trading settlement and reference data workflows.
- Provide risk based testing recommendations by identifying high impact services complex integrations and critical data paths and by proposing targeted test sets that optimize effort while safeguarding key business outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to organizational quality standards by enforcing test entry and exit gates reviewing test evidence and maintaining structured documentation for audits compliance checks and knowledge transfer.
- Guide automation ready test design by defining reusable test data parameterized inputs and verifiable outputs that can support future automation initiatives for regression and smoke testing of APIs and web services.
- Monitor test progress and environment readiness by preparing daily status updates highlighting blockers and dependencies and coordinating with environment teams to address configuration connectivity or data related issues.
- Align test activities with investment banking operations needs by focusing on scenarios such as trade booking lifecycle events settlements confirmations and reporting to ensure reliability and consistency of operational flows.
- Support production readiness through structured regression cycles sanity checks and post release validation of critical services thereby reducing incidents and improving stability for end users and operations teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned refining test processes proposing better use of Jira and API tools and mentoring team members on test design SQL techniques and domain understanding.
Qualifications
- Possess strong hands on experience in Jira for test management and defect tracking demonstrating ability to configure workflows create dashboards and provide analytics that improve visibility and decision making.
- Exhibit deep technical skills in web services testing and API testing using Postman and SoapUI including validation of REST endpoints SOAP operations authentication flows and complex JSON and XML payloads.
- Demonstrate solid proficiency in SQL by writing complex joins subqueries and aggregation queries to verify transactional data reconcile records and troubleshoot defects across multiple data stores.
- Show practical experience in testing REST API based architectures including understanding of resource modeling versioning strategies pagination error models and compatibility considerations across environments.
- Bring advantageous exposure to investment banking operations such as trade lifecycle settlements reconciliations and regulatory reporting enabling richer test coverage and better alignment with business risks.
- Display capability to work independently in a work from office day shift model coordinating with cross functional teams on site while managing priorities across parallel projects without requiring travel.
Certifications Required
Preferred certifications such as ISTQB Advanced Test Analyst or API Testing related certification from recognized professional bodies good ot have.
