AI Developer – Generative AI & Machine Learning
About the role
As an AI Developer, you will make an impact by designing and delivering intelligent solutions that help organizations leverage Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI to solve complex business challenges. You will be a valued member of the AI & Analytics team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, data engineers, architects, and application development teams to build scalable AI-powered applications that drive innovation, automation, and business value.
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, test, and deploy AI/ML and Generative AI solutions that address complex business requirements.
- Build and optimize Large Language Model (LLM)-powered applications, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, and conversational AI platforms.
- Develop document intelligence and information extraction solutions that process structured and unstructured data sources.
- Integrate AI and machine learning capabilities with enterprise applications, APIs, databases, and cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable AI solutions and production-ready applications.
- Monitor, evaluate, and optimize AI model performance, scalability, reliability, and accuracy.
- Contribute to AI solution architecture, best practices, governance standards, and responsible AI implementation.
- Stay current with emerging AI technologies, frameworks, industry trends, and innovation opportunities.

What you need to have to be considered
- 8-12 years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML engineering, application development, or related technology disciplines.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
- Strong experience with Generative AI technologies, Large Language Models (LLMs), and modern AI development frameworks.
- Experience building RAG solutions, AI agents, conversational AI applications, and intelligent automation platforms.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML development libraries and frameworks.
- Experience integrating AI services with APIs, databases, enterprise applications, and cloud-based platforms.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts, model evaluation, prompt engineering, and AI application lifecycle management.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
These will help you stand out
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or similar AI orchestration frameworks.
- Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, and knowledge retrieval architectures.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience building document intelligence, intelligent search, and enterprise knowledge management solutions.
- Familiarity with MLOps, LLMOps, AI observability, and model monitoring practices.
- Understanding of Responsible AI, AI governance, security, and compliance frameworks.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until October 31, 2026.
The annual salary for this position is between $130,000- $155,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
