As a Senior Generative AI Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and deploying scalable generative AI and advanced analytics solutions on cloud platforms. You will collaborate with technical program managers, engineering leads, developers, and client stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable, production-ready AI applications.

In this role, you will:
- Design and implement scalable generative AI, machine learning, and analytics solutions for deployment on Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Translate business requirements into effective technical solutions and lead technical conversations with program managers, engineering leads, and other stakeholders.
- Develop high-quality applications using established coding standards, automated unit testing, and project-defined code coverage requirements.
- Build and optimize retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, prompt-based solutions, fine-tuned models, and agentic AI workflows.
- Support solutions through testing, production deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing performance improvement.
- Document application architecture, technical designs, and service specifications while providing technical guidance to developers.
What you need to have to be considered
- 6 or more years of software engineering, data, analytics, machine learning, or artificial intelligence experience, including hands-on experience with generative AI solutions.
- Strong programming experience with Python and SQL, along with experience developing production-ready applications.
- Hands-on experience with generative AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or LangGraph.
- Experience developing solutions using large language model APIs, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini.
- Practical experience with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agentic workflows, tool calling, and multi-agent systems.
- Experience deploying AI or analytics applications on Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
These will help you stand out
- Experience with open-source models and ecosystems such as Llama 3, Mistral, and Hugging Face.
- Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Chroma, or Milvus.
- Knowledge of generative AI evaluation approaches and tools such as TruLens, Ragas, and LLM-as-a-judge.
- Experience fine-tuning, evaluating, monitoring, and improving large language model applications in production environments.
- Additional software development experience with Java.

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $68,000 – $114,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
