DevOps Engineering Lead
About the role
As a DevOps Engineering Lead, you will make an impact by leading the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise DevOps platforms, cloud infrastructure, and automation frameworks that support critical pharmaceutical early discovery research applications. You will be a valued member of the engineering organization and collaborate closely with product teams, scientific stakeholders, application developers, data engineers, quality assurance teams, cybersecurity teams, infrastructure teams, and business leaders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead DevOps strategy, platform architecture, automation standards, and technical roadmaps across cloud and hybrid environments.
- Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for applications, APIs, databases, data platforms, and infrastructure deployments.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and cloud-native technologies to improve scalability, consistency, and operational efficiency.
- Drive containerization and orchestration initiatives using Docker and Kubernetes while ensuring platform reliability, security, and performance.
- Establish observability, DevSecOps, release governance, and operational excellence practices that support business-critical research and data platforms.

What you need to have to be considered
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in IT engineering, including significant experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and technical leadership.
- Strong expertise designing and managing enterprise CI/CD platforms using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Proven experience with Docker, Kubernetes, container orchestration, deployment automation, and cloud-native platform operations.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.
- Deep understanding of Linux administration, networking, identity and access management, security controls, and production operations.
- Experience implementing observability solutions including monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards, and service health reporting.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale modernization initiatives, cloud migrations, DevOps transformations, or platform engineering programs.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and communicate technical recommendations, risks, and trade-offs to both technical and business audiences.
These will help you stand out
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, laboratory informatics, or scientific research environments.
- Knowledge of laboratory platforms such as ELN, LIMS, SDMS, bioinformatics, scientific data platforms, or research analytics solutions.
- Experience with DevSecOps practices, security automation, vulnerability management, and compliance-driven environments.
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms, MLOps, scientific workflows, high-volume data processing, or large-scale analytics ecosystems.
- Knowledge of GxP, computer system validation, electronic records, data integrity, audit readiness, and regulated environments.
- Industry certifications in AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, Security, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Agile, or ITIL frameworks.
- Experience implementing FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization strategies.
