We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in core banking applications and mainframe technologies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting and enhancing critical banking systems, including Deposits, Loans, Customer/Account Management, General Ledger, and Tax applications. The role requires deep technical knowledge of COBOL-based mainframe environments, batch processing, and banking domain expertise to deliver high-quality solutions and support business objectives.
In this role, you will:
· Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe applications supporting core banking operations.
· Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective mainframe solutions.
· Develop and support batch processing jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and other mainframe technologies.
· Perform code debugging, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production support activities.
· Collaborate with business analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders to implement system enhancements.
· Participate in code reviews, unit testing, SIT/UAT support, and deployment activities.

What you need to have to be considered
· Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in Mainframe application development using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, standard mainframe utilities, and batch processing environments.
· Strong hands-on experience in Core Banking applications, including one or more of the following areas: Deposits, Loans, Customer & Account Management, General Ledger, and Tax Systems.
· Experience with mainframe development and support tools such as Endevor (or equivalent version control tools), Xpediter (or equivalent debugging tools), and Easytrieve (or similar reporting/query tools).
· Knowledge of CICS and IMS is preferred.
· Proven ability to analyze requirements, develop enhancements, troubleshoot issues, and support testing and production deployments within a banking environment.
· Experience with FIS Systematics Core Banking Platform is highly preferred and considered a significant advantage.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $ 68422 to $ 114000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
