RPG Programmer
About the role
As a RPG Programmer, you will make an impact by building, enhancing, and supporting mission-critical IBM i / AS400 applications and their integrations with enterprise systems. You will be a valued member of the application development team and work collaboratively with business analysts, integration teams, and clients.

In this role, you will
Write, enhance, test, and maintain programs using RPG, RPGILE free format, and SQLRPGLE on the IBM i / AS400 platform.
Create and maintain embedded SQL logic in SQLRPGLE programs to read, update, validate, and process DB2 for i data.
Develop and maintain interfaces between AS400 applications and the JDE system for inbound and outbound data processing, including data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading routines.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to RPG programs, SQL queries, job failures, data mismatches, interface errors, and JDE communication problems.
Perform unit, system integration, regression, and user acceptance testing while optimizing code for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Dallas, Texas. What you must have to be considered
Strong hands-on experience with RPG, RPG IV, RPGILE, RPGILE free format, and SQLRPGLE programming.
Solid understanding of IBM i / AS400 concepts, including libraries, objects, job queues, output queues, commands, CL programs, and job scheduling.
Experience with DB2 for i, embedded SQL, stored procedures, indexes, views, joins, triggers, and query performance tuning.
Knowledge of DDS, physical files, logical files, display files, printer files, subfiles, data areas, data queues, and message queues.
Experience using development and debugging tools such as RDi, SEU, SDA, PDM, WRK commands, STRDBG, job logs, and spool files.
These will help you succeed
Ability to analyze legacy RPG code and modernize it into RPGILE free format where appropriate.
Understanding of JDE data structures, interface patterns, batch processing, and enterprise application integration concepts.
Knowledge of FTP/SFTP, IFS, middleware-based integrations, file transfers, and automated job processing.

Salary and Other Compensation: The annual salary for this position is between $ 60,000 to $ 93,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
