AppWorks Lead Developer
About the role
As an AppWorks Lead Developer, you will make an impact by leading the design, development, and optimization of enterprise workflow solutions built on the AppWorks platform. You will be a valued member of the delivery team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and technology teams to deliver scalable, high-performing workflow and Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) solutions that improve operational efficiency and business outcomes.
In this role, you will:
· Lead the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of enterprise solutions utilizing AppWorks WSApp Server and OpenText AppWorks.
· Design and optimize workflow-driven applications that support complex business processes and enterprise operational requirements.
· Configure and enhance AppWorks BAM capabilities to provide operational dashboards, monitoring, reporting, alerts, and performance insights.
· Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with enterprise architectural standards.
· Develop reusable services, workflows, and application components that promote consistency, maintainability, and scalability across platforms.
· Collaborate with product owners and business analysts to refine requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
· Design and validate integrations between AppWorks solutions and external enterprise systems using industry-standard integration patterns.
· Manage application lifecycle activities, including configuration management, version control, deployment planning, and release support.
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and non-production issues across AppWorks and BAM environments.
· Perform performance analysis, tuning, and optimization activities to ensure solution reliability and responsiveness.
· Create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, operational procedures, and implementation standards.
· Mentor developers and technical team members by promoting best practices, code quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Partner with quality assurance teams to support testing strategies, test execution, and release validation activities.

What you need to have to be considered
· Strong experience developing and implementing enterprise solutions using AppWorks WSApp Server.
· Hands-on expertise with OpenText AppWorks, including application development, configuration, deployment, and governance.
· Advanced knowledge of AppWorks BAM (Business Activity Monitoring), including dashboard development, metrics configuration, monitoring, and alerting capabilities.
· Experience designing workflow-based business process automation solutions.
· Strong understanding of application integration patterns, service orchestration, and enterprise architecture principles.
· Experience troubleshooting, performance tuning, and optimizing AppWorks applications and BAM environments.
· Knowledge of application lifecycle management, version control, deployment processes, and release management practices.
· Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
· Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
· Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams in a hybrid delivery environment.
These will help you stand out
· Experience within the Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance domain, including exposure to policy, claims, or underwriting processes.
· Experience leading development teams and mentoring junior developers.
· Knowledge of enterprise workflow automation and digital transformation initiatives.
· Experience integrating AppWorks solutions with policy administration, claims management, or other core business platforms.
· Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps practices.
· Experience implementing enterprise monitoring, reporting, and operational analytics solutions.
· Strong understanding of application security, governance, and compliance requirements.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until October 30, 2025.
The annual salary for this position is between $129,500- $152,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
