Job Summary
Lead Developer role in a hybrid work model focusing on designing and delivering advanced data and computation solutions within bioinformatics using AWS Lambda Python and AWS Glue. The role requires six to ten years of experience and mandates strong domain expertise in bioinformatics to build secure scalable and efficient platforms that enable meaningful scientific and healthcare insights for global stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Design robust serverless solutions using AWS Lambda to support complex bioinformatics data processing workflows that ensure reliable performance and scalability for scientific analysis tasks.
- Develop efficient Python based applications and scripts that transform cleanse and standardize diverse bioinformatics datasets to improve data quality and downstream analytic accuracy.
- Architect data integration pipelines using AWS Glue that enable secure ingestion curation and cataloging of genomic proteomic and clinical data from multiple internal and external sources.
- Coordinate with cross functional research and product teams to translate bioinformatics requirements into well structured technical designs that align with organizational goals and regulatory expectations.
- Implement comprehensive monitoring logging and alerting for Lambda functions Glue jobs and Python services to enhance system observability reduce incidents and improve response times.
- Optimize data models storage strategies and query patterns for large scale bioinformatics datasets to achieve cost efficient and performant analytics in the cloud environment.
- Review and refactor existing Python and AWS based codebases to improve maintainability security compliance and adherence to internal engineering standards and best practices.
- Guide junior developers in applying robust coding practices effective testing strategies and cloud usage patterns so that project teams deliver predictable and high quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with data scientists and bioinformaticians to embed analytical algorithms into production grade Lambda and Glue pipelines enabling repeatable computable and traceable research workflows.
- Establish and enforce configuration management and version control processes for code and infrastructure resources to support reliable deployments and hybrid work coordination.
- Perform detailed root cause analysis of defects performance issues and data inconsistencies and implement well tested corrective actions that protect the integrity of scientific results.
- Document architectural decisions pipeline designs and operational runbooks in a clear and accessible manner to support knowledge sharing and continuity across distributed teams.
- Engage with stakeholders to prioritize backlog items and propose technical improvements that enhance bioinformatics platform capabilities and ultimately support better patient and public health outcomes.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate deep practical experience with AWS Lambda Python and AWS Glue including design implementation optimization and maintenance of production workloads in a hybrid environment.
- Show strong domain expertise in bioinformatics including working with genomic proteomic or clinical data and applying computational methods that respect scientific and regulatory standards.
- Apply solid understanding of cloud security data privacy and compliance concepts relevant to healthcare and life sciences to ensure responsible handling of sensitive information.
- Utilize proven skills in unit testing integration testing and automated validation for data pipelines and services to maintain high reliability and reproducibility of analytical results.
- Bring effective communication and collaboration abilities to work closely with multidisciplinary teams in a hybrid model balancing independent focus work with coordinated group problem solving.
