AI & ML Architect

About the role

As an AI & ML Architect, you will make an impact by designing and leading enterprise-scale Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and Machine Learning solutions that drive business value and innovation. You will be a valued member of the AI & Analytics team and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, data scientists, engineering teams, enterprise architects, and technology leadership to define and deliver strategic AI initiatives.

In this role, you will:

• Define end-to-end architecture for AI, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and Machine Learning solutions across the enterprise.
• Evaluate business challenges and recommend appropriate approaches, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), Generative AI, and AI agents.
• Establish reusable architecture patterns, frameworks, standards, and reference architectures to accelerate solution delivery.
• Ensure AI solutions meet enterprise requirements for scalability, security, reliability, performance, governance, and maintainability.
• Lead model strategy, including feature engineering, model prioritization, calibration, training methodologies, and optimization to improve business outcomes.

Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 to 4 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Glendale, Wisconsin. What you need to have to be considered

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Extensive experience architecting and delivering enterprise-scale AI, Machine Learning, and Generative AI solutions.
• Strong expertise in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, large language models (LLMs), and modern AI frameworks.
• Experience designing solution architectures that align with enterprise security, governance, scalability, and performance requirements.
• Proven ability to collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate complex requirements into AI-driven solutions.
• Experience developing model strategies, including feature engineering, model evaluation, tuning, and performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of AI lifecycle management, model deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement practices.

These will help you stand out

• Experience with Agentic AI frameworks, autonomous agents, and multi-agent architectures.
• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, knowledge graphs, and semantic search solutions.
• Experience establishing AI architecture standards, governance frameworks, and enterprise AI best practices.
• Familiarity with reinforcement learning methodologies and advanced model calibration techniques.
• Experience leading global, cross-functional teams and influencing architectural decisions across multiple business units.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until November 15, 2026

The annual salary for this position is between $ 115,000 - $ 130,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
