Apply twelve to fourteen years of experience to shape resilient secure and scalable hybrid solutions that optimize critical telecom platforms and enhance customer reliability.
Responsibilities
- Design end to end infrastructure architectures for telecom applications that rely on IMS application databases ensuring high performance resilience and predictable response times for critical business services.
- Develop comprehensive application database strategies across IMS IDMS and mainframe DB2 platforms that align with enterprise standards while optimizing cost capacity and long term maintainability.
- Coordinate with application owners and business analysts to translate telecom product requirements into robust infrastructure and database deployment patterns that support future growth.
- Optimize IMS application database schemas access paths and buffer configurations to improve throughput reduce contention and maintain consistent service levels for customer facing systems.
- Configure and fine tune IDMS application database environments to support complex transaction processing while maintaining data integrity recoverability and stable performance under peak loads.
- Administer mainframe DB2 application databases by managing objects tuning SQL and guiding application teams on efficient query design to minimize resource consumption.
- Implement standardized backup recovery and data protection practices across IMS IDMS and mainframe DB2 application databases to support strict recovery point and recovery time objectives.
- Collaborate with mainframe system teams storage specialists and middleware engineers to validate capacity assumptions identify bottlenecks and support smooth integration in a hybrid work model.
- Review and refine infrastructure designs and change requests for telecom initiatives to ensure compliance with security controls regulatory expectations and internal architecture guidelines.
- Document reference architectures runbooks and environment diagrams that clearly describe database dependencies batch schedules and operational procedures for day shift support teams.
- Guide application development teams on designing telecom solutions that make efficient use of mainframe resources while supporting seamless migration modernization or coexistence scenarios.
- Monitor key performance indicators across IMS IDMS and mainframe DB2 environments and recommend continuous improvements that reduce incidents and enhance customer experience.
- Engage in incident and problem management activities by performing deep root cause analysis on database related issues and proposing structural fixes that prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate with information security teams to apply hardening practices enforce access controls and align database configurations with organizational security policies.
- Participate in capacity planning and forecasting exercises that model telecom traffic patterns and project storage processing and licensing needs for the database landscape.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to peers on best practices for application database design and infrastructure utilization without assuming formal people leadership responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate twelve to fourteen years of experience in infrastructure architecture with a strong focus on IMS application database administration in large enterprise environments.
- Show proven hands on experience as an IDMS application database administrator supporting complex transactional and batch solutions in the telecom domain.
- Exhibit deep practical knowledge of mainframe DB2 application database administration including object design performance tuning and deployment automation.
- Apply solid understanding of telecom industry processes standards and regulatory expectations to ensure that infrastructure designs support reliable network and customer operations.
- Utilize advanced skills in performance analysis capacity planning and workload management for mainframe database environments to maintain stable day shift operations.
- Display strong communication and collaboration capabilities to work effectively in a hybrid model with distributed teams business stakeholders and cross functional technology partners.
