Job Summary
This hybrid role focuses on configuration activities for health care benefit administration within a pharmacy benefit management environment using MS Excel and Excel Services on Sharepoint to manage and validate benefit data. The specialist supports night shift operations ensuring accurate configuration data integrity and timely deployment of benefit rules across systems.
Responsibilities
- Configure benefit plan parameters using MS Excel to ensure accurate setup of pharmacy benefit management rules that support consistent adjudication outcomes across member populations.
- Validate configuration data using advanced Excel formulas and structured templates to minimize defects and improve reliability of benefit administration processes before deployment.
- Maintain configuration workbooks and reference matrices in Excel Services on Sharepoint to provide a single trusted source of configuration truth for cross functional teams.
- Coordinate with business analysts to interpret benefit requirements and translate them into detailed configuration specifications that align with client contracts and regulatory expectations.
- Execute configuration changes within defined timelines during the night shift to support release schedules while minimizing impact on downstream operational teams and systems.
- Perform impact analysis on requested configuration updates using Excel based comparison methods to identify potential conflicts or gaps in benefit setup.
- Conduct configuration unit testing and regression checks using structured test scenarios to confirm that updates perform as intended in the pharmacy benefit management domain.
- Document configuration decisions assumptions and mapping logic in structured logs stored on Sharepoint to support traceability audits and future change assessments.
- Collaborate with quality and operations partners to resolve configuration defects by analyzing claim behavior identifying root causes and updating Excel driven configuration assets.
- Monitor nightly configuration related jobs and reports to quickly identify anomalies escalate issues and support timely remediation to protect member experience.
- Support process improvement initiatives by proposing enhancements to Excel templates validation rules and Sharepoint workflows that streamline configuration lifecycle activities.
- Adhere to compliance guidelines and data handling standards in benefit administration to protect sensitive information and uphold client trust across all configuration tasks.
- Communicate configuration status and risk items clearly to stakeholders using concise updates that enable informed decisions and smooth coordination across teams.
Qualifications
- Possess two to four years of experience working in configuration or operations roles within health care or pharmacy benefit management environments with direct exposure to benefit administration processes.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in MS Excel including functions lookups pivot tables and data validation features to manage large datasets and complex configuration models.
- Show hands on experience using Excel Services on Sharepoint to publish share and manage configuration workbooks in a controlled and collaborative environment.
- Bring practical knowledge of benefit administration PBM concepts such as formularies copay structures accumulators and plan design to interpret configuration requirements accurately.
- Exhibit ability to analyze data trends identify configuration issues and recommend corrective actions using structured problem solving approaches.
- Display comfort working in a hybrid work model and night shift schedule while maintaining productivity responsiveness and collaboration with distributed teams.
