Job Summary
Serve as a technical lead specializing in IBM Rational ClearCase for a global technology organization guiding configuration management solutions that support secure high quality software delivery. Collaborate with cross functional teams in a hybrid work model during day shifts driving stable version control practices that enhance productivity and reduce release risk across critical enterprise projects.
Responsibilities
- Drive end to end configuration management workflows using IBM Rational ClearCase to ensure consistent versioning branching and baselining across multiple application teams and environments.
- Design and optimize ClearCase repository structures and branching strategies so that development teams can collaborate efficiently while maintaining traceability and controlled parallel development streams.
- Coordinate with developers testers and release stakeholders to define clear policies for code check in labeling and integration reducing merge conflicts and improving overall release readiness.
- Implement and maintain build and integration scripts that interface with ClearCase enabling reliable automation of software builds and promoting repeatable deployment processes.
- Monitor ClearCase system performance and storage utilization and proactively tune configurations and cleanup routines to maintain responsive and stable version control services.
- Analyze incidents and defects related to configuration management processes and apply root cause analysis to refine standards improve documentation and prevent recurring issues.
- Provide detailed technical guidance to project teams on ClearCase usage patterns including views management and access controls ensuring secure and compliant handling of source artifacts.
- Develop and maintain operational runbooks process documents and user guides that clarify ClearCase procedures helping new and existing team members adopt best practices quickly and confidently.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to align ClearCase configurations with organizational controls contributing to audit readiness and protecting sensitive code assets.
- Coordinate migration or integration efforts involving ClearCase and other lifecycle tools supporting modernization journeys while preserving historical baselines and traceability.
- Engage with global counterparts in hybrid settings to align configuration management practices across regions improving standardization and knowledge sharing without requiring travel.
- Track and report key indicators such as build success rates change failure patterns and repository health translating findings into continuous improvement plans that support business objectives.
- Support project planning and estimation by providing technical input on configuration management scope capacity considerations and timelines enabling realistic delivery commitments and predictable outcomes.
Qualifications
- Exhibit six to eight years of hands on experience in configuration management with strong focus on IBM Rational ClearCase across complex enterprise scale environments.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of ClearCase concepts including views vobs baselines branching models and merge strategies and apply this expertise to day to day operations.
- Show proficiency in scripting or automation using tools such as shell or similar languages to streamline repetitive ClearCase tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
- Display practical experience working in hybrid work models and collaborating through digital channels to support globally distributed stakeholders during day shifts.
- Apply sound knowledge of software development life cycle practices and release processes so that ClearCase workflows align effectively with agile or iterative delivery models.
- Illustrate strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex configuration issues and propose sustainable improvements that reduce downtime.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with technical and non technical partners explaining configuration management concepts in a way that supports informed decision making and shared understanding.
