About the role
As a Senior QA Analyst – API Testing (Insurance/GRS), you will make an impact by leading testing activities for Group Retirement Services projects and helping deliver high-quality insurance and online enrollment solutions. You will collaborate with business, development, and quality engineering teams to plan and execute testing, validate system integrations, manage defects, and support successful releases.
In this role, you will:
• Lead and coordinate functional, integration, system, and regression testing for Group Retirement Services and online enrollment applications.
• Develop and review test scenarios, test cases, test data, execution results, and defect reports to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Validate end-to-end processing across user interfaces, batch jobs, Kafka events, files, APIs, databases, and downstream systems.
• Test REST and SOAP APIs using Postman, SoapUI, or similar tools, including validation of payloads, responses, error handling, and data flows.
• Collaborate with business, development, and quality engineering teams to resolve defects, communicate testing progress, and support quality delivery.

What you need to have to be considered
• Experience testing insurance applications, including online enrollment functionality and workflows.
• Knowledge of Group Retirement Services and related insurance business processes.
• Hands-on experience performing functional, integration, system, regression, API, and database testing.
• Experience testing REST and SOAP APIs using Postman, SoapUI, or comparable API testing tools.
• Proficiency in SQL for data validation, test-result verification, and data-integrity testing.
• Understanding of software development, software testing, and defect-management lifecycles.
• Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar test and defect-management tools.
• Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
These will help you stand out
• Experience with Playwright-based test automation.
• Knowledge of Java and automated testing frameworks.
• Experience validating Kafka events, batch processing, file interfaces, and distributed system integrations.
• Broader experience within the insurance or financial-services industry.
• Experience coordinating testing activities and reviewing the work of other quality assurance team members.

Total compensation:
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 60,000 - 90,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental, and financial wellbeing.
