About the role
As a Banking & Financial Services Consultant – Business Development, you will make an impact by driving revenue growth across our Banking & Financial Services portfolio, translating deep domain knowledge into compelling value propositions, managing complex sales cycles, and serving as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders in the CX-CRM space. You will be a valued member of the Business Development team and work collaboratively with consulting, technology, delivery, legal, and finance stakeholders as well as client and industry decision-makers.
In this role, you will
- Serve as the Banking & Financial Services subject-matter expert across Retail Banking, Commercial & Corporate Banking, Wealth Management & Private Banking, Capital Markets & Investment Banking, Cards & Payments, and Asset & Investment Management throughout the end-to-end pursuit lifecycle, ensuring proposed CX-CRM solutions are designed around KYC, AML, consent management, and data privacy requirements.
- Design and deliver customised pitches, RFP responses, and solution demonstrations that articulate ROI and strategic differentiation for retail banks, commercial & investment banks, credit unions, asset managers, insurers, and fintech organisations.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional proposal teams and negotiate commercial terms, MSAs, and SOWs with legal and finance to ensure profitable deal structuring.
- Develop and execute account growth strategies across existing client portfolios, maximising wallet share and client satisfaction, and represent the firm at industry conferences, roundtables, and regulatory forums to elevate brand presence and generate qualified leads.
- Provide market intelligence on regulatory shifts and emerging trends across North America and Europe, mentor junior BD analysts, and maintain accurate pipeline data, forecasting, and CRM hygiene to support leadership reporting.
Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Bangalore, Chennai, or Hyderabad, India. What you need to have to be considered
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline, with 10-12 years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or client management within banking, financial services, or consulting.
- Demonstrated track record of independently closing large, complex deals in BFSI, with deep understanding of financial products across retail & corporate banking, treasury, wealth management, capital markets, cards & payments, and asset management.
- Proficiency in consultative selling methodologies (SPIN, Challenger, or similar) and strong commercial acumen with the ability to model business cases and ROI frameworks.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and executive stakeholder engagement skills.
- Familiarity with BFS compliance and regulatory requirements (KYC/AML, GDPR/CCPA data privacy & consent, US/EU/UK banking and financial regulator guidelines) and how they shape CRM solution design and customer journeys.
These will help you stand out
- An MBA or CFA qualification.
- Experience with digital transformation, core banking modernisation, or regtech/fintech solutions.
- Certifications such as CAMS, CRCM, or CIPP/E.
- Working knowledge of CRM and digital platforms such as Salesforce Financial Services Cloud, Temenos CRM, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle CX for Financial Services, Pega, or Creatio.
- Fluency in emerging technologies including Agentic AI, Next-Gen AI virtual assistants, hyper-personalization, unified omnichannel journeys, and compliance-first, consent-based CRM.
