About the role
As a Commercial Banking Product Owner, you will make an impact by helping commercial banking clients solve complex business challenges through human-centered design, process transformation, and AI-enabled innovation. You will be a valued member of the Consulting team and work collaboratively with commercial banking stakeholders, business teams, technology partners, data teams, and cross-functional client groups.
In this role, you will:
- Lead design thinking workshops, process discovery sessions, ideation, co-creation, and future-state visioning to help solve complex commercial banking business challenges.
- Apply human-centered design principles to identify customer, colleague, and operational pain points, then translate insights into practical and innovative business solutions.
- Assess and map current-state processes, customer journeys, and operating models, then design future-state processes that improve efficiency, client experience, colleague experience, and business performance.
- Apply Lean, process excellence, and transformation methodologies to simplify, standardize, and optimize workflows across commercial banking products, services, and operations.
- Identify opportunities to use AI, Generative AI, automation, and data-driven solutions to enhance productivity, decision-making, operating models, and client experiences.
- Partner with commercial banking stakeholders, business leaders, technology teams, and data teams to shape transformation opportunities, develop roadmaps, build business cases, and align solutions to strategic priorities.
Work model

Based on this role’s business requirements, this position requires 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Chicago, Illinois. What you must have to be considered
- Experience leading design thinking workshops, process discovery sessions, ideation, co-creation, or future-state visioning with cross-functional business and technology teams.
- Experience assessing current-state processes, customer journeys, operating models, or business workflows and designing future-state solutions.
- Commercial banking domain knowledge, including familiarity with banking products, services, operations, client journeys, colleague experiences, and regulatory considerations.
- Experience applying Lean, process excellence, business transformation, or continuous improvement methods to simplify and optimize business operations.
- Ability to partner with senior stakeholders, influence alignment across business and technology teams, and translate strategic priorities into transformation roadmaps and business cases.
These will help you succeed
- Experience identifying or implementing AI, Generative AI, automation, or data-enabled opportunities within business processes or operating models.
- Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead workshops, guide executive conversations, and bring diverse teams together around a shared vision.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution, moving from discovery and pain point identification to actionable recommendations and measurable outcomes.
- Consulting experience supporting financial services or commercial banking transformation programs.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex ideas and present recommendations clearly to business, technology, and leadership audiences.

Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $110,000 - $126,000, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
