Responsibilities of the Engineer include:
1. Infrastructure Identification & Cataloguing
a. Resource Discovery: Identify and catalogue residual NAS file shares, CPU allocations, and object storage
linked to decommissioned applications.
b. Data Analysis: Analyse data in Excel and internal tools to identify decommissioning candidates and
measure outcomes.
c. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage application owners to notify them of remaining infrastructure and
secure formal approval for deletion.
2. Execution
a. Change Management: Raise and manage Change Requests for approved decommissioning actions.
b. Coordination: Work with Storage, Compute, and Platform teams to execute permanent infrastructure
removal.
c. Tracking & Reporting: Track progress, escalations, and blockers via Jira — maintain clean boards and
accurate status at all times.
d. Stakeholder Communication: Produce and distribute structured notifications, reports, and dashboards to
stakeholders and senior leadership.
3. Process Improvement & Automation
a. Rigor & Follow-Through: A rigorous approach to operational excellence is required. Engineers must
proactively follow up on outstanding approvals, escalate delays per SLA with clear professional
communication.
b. Process Improvement: Continuously improve processes, templates, and automation to increase
decommissioning throughput.
c. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engineer will also need to work with cross-functional infrastructure and
platform teams and must have an aptitude for learning new workflows and tooling as necessary.
Technical Skills:
1. Basic Qualifications
a. Education: Bachelor’s or Masters in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related
quantitative field.
b. Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in infrastructure management, technology project
delivery and/or enterprise-scale environments involving large number business critical applications.
c. Languages: Unix/Linux Shell Scripting, Basic proficiency in Python (scripting, automation, data
manipulation).
d. Methodology: Familiarity with change management processes in regulated financial industries.
2. Core Infrastructure Competencies: Candidates must demonstrate a solid understanding of the
following:
a. NAS / File Storage: Understanding of mounts, shares, volumes, quotas, and lifecycle management.
b. CPU / Compute Infrastructure: Familiarity with on-prem capacity management and decommissioning
procedures.
c. Object Storage: Awareness of cloud/on-prem object stores and data retention policies.
d. Development Environments: Working knowledge of IDEs such as VS Code, IntelliJ IDEA, and PyCharm.
e. AI & Automation Tools: Familiarity with AI engines and assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini)
to accelerate operational tasks and reporting.
