About the role
As a MLEU Domain Expert, you will make an impact by supporting the pre-sales team in crafting compelling, market insight-led proposals and bid responses across Manufacturing, Automotive, Logistics and Energy & Utilities (MLEU), mapping client needs to Cognizant Moment digital engagement capabilities that communicate clear business value. You will be a valued member of the Business Development team and work collaboratively with pre-sales leads, solution architects, and account teams, and clients.
In this role, you will
- Act as a trusted domain advisor to pre-sales, sales, and solution architecture teams, articulating the differentiated business value of Cognizant Moment digital engagement solutions across MLEU and mapping platform capabilities (CX-CRM, CX-CDP, Product Analytics, Digital Engagement) to sector priorities.
- Proactively identify and qualify new business opportunities within MLEU accounts by translating Industry 4.0, connected mobility, digital supply chain, and energy-transition trends into actionable, client-facing insights and points of view.
- Support the end-to-end pre-sales cycle (RFI, RFP, and RFQ responses, solution demonstrations, and executive presentations) with sector-relevant win themes, value drivers, KPIs, and business cases tied to measurable ROI.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on industry-aligned solution capabilities, enabling sales, business development, and client teams through domain enablement sessions, reusable knowledge artefacts, and solution accelerators.
- Sense emerging MLEU opportunities and build market and competitive intelligence, leading cross-functional sprints and design-thinking workshops to prototype new solution hypotheses and shape practice-growth business cases.
Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Chennai, Bangalore, or Hyderabad. What you must have to be considered
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in computer science or IT; an MBA or relevant master's degree is preferred.
- 10-15 years of experience in business development, pre-sales, or consulting, with at least 5+ years focused on business growth in MLEU industries and enterprise-level Customer Data Platform solutions.
- Working knowledge of monolithic and microservices application architecture (RESTful APIs, API integration).
- Proven experience supporting RFx responses, client presentations, and solution demonstrations.
- Strong executive presence with excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
These will help you succeed
- MLEU industry and AI fluency across Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing, connected/software-defined vehicles, EV and mobility, digital supply chain and logistics, and smart grid and energy transition, including how AI/GenAI is reshaping these sectors.
- Ability to translate MLEU-specific regulatory shifts (emissions standards, ESG/sustainability, energy-transition and safety regulations) into client-facing insights.
- Competitive awareness of key MLEU players (OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, 3PL/4PL providers, utilities and energy majors) plus platform vendors and integrators.
- Technology awareness across AWS/GCP/Azure, Salesforce Manufacturing/Automotive/Energy & Utilities Cloud, Adobe Experience Cloud and Real-Time CDP, and Contact Center/CCaaS.
- Exceptional proposal and bid-writing ability to produce insight-led, persuasive proposals, executive summaries, and bid artefacts that differentiate Cognizant in competitive evaluations.
