About the role
As a Healthcare Domain Consultant, you will make an impact by bridging clinical expertise with strategic business objectives to drive digital transformation across health systems, payers, and provider organizations globally. You will be a valued member of the Business Development team and work collaboratively with delivery teams, solution architects, and client stakeholders, and clients.
In this role, you will
- Act as a trusted advisor bridging clinical expertise with strategic business objectives, advising clients on healthcare IT, EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or equivalent), and interoperability standards.
- Conduct gap analysis and develop comprehensive transformation roadmaps for health systems, payers, and providers, leading engagements end to end.
- Ensure full regulatory compliance across HIPAA, HL7, and FHIR standards, and educate client and internal teams on compliance implications of proposed digital health solutions.
- Facilitate executive stakeholder workshops and deliver senior-level presentations to align on strategy and outcomes.
- Mentor junior consultants and support healthcare practice development, identifying emerging opportunities in value-based care, population health, and digital health innovation.
Work model

Based on this role's business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Chennai, Bangalore or Kolkata. What you must have to be considered
- 10-15+ years of experience in healthcare consulting or clinical operations.
- Deep expertise in EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of value-based care models and population health management.
- Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT coding, and FHIR/HL7 interoperability standards.
- MBA or Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Public Health, or a related field.
These will help you succeed
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to facilitate executive workshops and present at executive level.
- Demonstrated track record managing complex, multi-stakeholder programs end to end.
- Strong grasp of HIPAA and other healthcare data-privacy and governance requirements.
- Ability to advise on population health management and value-based care models that improve clinical and financial outcomes.
- Track record of mentoring junior consultants and contributing to the growth of the healthcare consulting practice.
