About the role
As a Senior Software Engineer (Java), you will make an impact by designing, developing, and delivering scalable, high-quality web applications using modern Java technologies and frontend frameworks. You will be a valued member of the engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including architects, business stakeholders, and QA teams.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Java/J2EE technologies and modern frontend frameworks
Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces using AngularJS, ReactJS, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS
Develop and integrate web services (SOAP) and handle data transformations using XSLT
Work with relational databases (SQL, Oracle) to design, optimize, and manage data models
Collaborate in Agile development environments, contributing to sprint planning, development, testing, and deployment
Provide L2/L3 production support, managing incident management, defect triaging, and resolution within SLA timelines.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Boston, MA. What you need to have to be considered
10+ years of strong experience in Java/J2EE technologies including Servlets and JDBC
Proven expertise in frontend development using AngularJS, ReactJS, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS
Hands-on experience with SOAP-based web services and XSLT transformations
Experience with Node.js and build tools such as Grunt
Solid understanding of relational databases, including SQL and Oracle
Production support, managing incident management, defect triaging, and resolution within SLA timelines.
These will help you stand out
Experience working with application servers such as WebLogic, WebSphere, or Apache Tomcat
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
Exposure to unit testing frameworks and development best practices
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies
Guidewire Policy Admin System experience
Insurance domain experience

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is Between $65,447 to $117,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
