Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a passion for technology, social media, and online content to be at the forefront of breaking news. You will be an integral part of the algorithm training process, helping to define important factors for clients.
Key Responsibilities
A News Analyst will spend their time on the following day-to-day tasks:
• Reviewing and analyzing real-time data from various sources.
• Identifying, verifying, tagging the right news topic and location, and drafting captions for breaking news using client tool.
• Performing quality assurance (QA) on algorithmic data streams to improve dataset output.
• Staying up-to-date with social media and local news publishers’ events in APAC region
• Participating in user experience (UX) research studies for internal QA tools. 100
Job Requirements
Essential Skills:
• Proficiency in Japanese (Certified JLPT N1) and the ability to translate content into English.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills (B2 or equivalent).
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
• Ability to monitor and analyze real-time data from multiple datasets
• Audit and programmatically apply business rules for data validation
• Monitoring and provide constant feedback on QA algorithmic data streams to improve the quality of the dataset output
• Participate in UX user research studies for internal QA tools
• Stay up-to-date on new events, policies, processes, and procedures in APAC region
• A goal and result-oriented mindset.
Nice to Have Skills:
• Proficient in other foreign languages other than Mandarin, Cantonese, English, and Korean is an added advantage.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment – fast learner.
Qualifications:
• A degree, preferably in Journalism, Communications, Translation, English, political/social sciences, or a related field.
• 1-4 years of work experience as a reporter covering breaking news, or working in digital media, or an educational equivalent.
