Job Title: Jira Administrator

Job Location: Hybrid [3 days onsite]- New York, USA

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Developer to manage and optimize our Confluence and Jira platforms within a hybrid work model. In this role, you will ensure seamless collaboration and efficient workflows across the enterprise, directly contributing to operational excellence and a culture of continuous innovation. You will serve as a key technical authority on Atlassian Cloud products, partnering with cross-functional teams to scale our platforms in alignment with Agile and SAFe frameworks.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $73,000 to $80,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.

In this role, you will

  • Administer and configure Jira Cloud (Software and Service Management) and Confluence Cloud environments across multiple lines of business.

  • Partner with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, and Software Engineers to implement Jira structures aligned with SAFe and enterprise Agile standards.

  • Design, configure, and maintain custom workflows, screens, schemes, fields, filters, and dashboards to support portfolio, program, and team-level tracking.

  • Manage user access, roles, and permission models using Atlassian Access and SSO integrations with enterprise identity platforms.

  • Build and maintain automation rules and integrations (e.g., Slack, GitHub, ServiceNow).

  • Ensure Jira and Confluence configurations comply with enterprise security, audit, and governance standards.

  • Provide Tier 2 / Tier 3 support and troubleshooting for Jira Cloud and Confluence Cloud users.

  • Develop and maintain documentation, training materials, and best practices to drive consistent adoption across business units.

  • Participate in Atlassian Cloud upgrades, testing, and change management in coordination with Enterprise Technology teams.

  • Support user adoption of Atlassian Rovo AI capabilities.

What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)

  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience as a Jira Administrator in a large enterprise environment, including Jira Cloud.

  • Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and SAFe frameworks and their practical application within Jira.

  • Proficiency in JQL, workflow configuration, automation, and project setup.

  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian Cloud administration including global settings, permission schemes, and user management.

  • Experience supporting large-scale Jira environments (5,000+ users preferred).

  • Strong stakeholder communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Experience working in governed or regulated environments — financial services, banking, or fintech preferred.

Required Certifications

  • Certified Jira Administrator (Atlassian)

  • Certified Confluence Administrator (Atlassian)
